|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Odd One Out | Hard | 5 × 5 to 7 × 7 | about 2 min |

The three cups
Cup 1: Odd One Out
Odd One Out, Hard: searching a grid calmly for the one thing that differs. Twelve rounds on grids from 5 × 5 to 7 × 7; differences: a mirrored symbol ×4, a dot more or less ×3, a turned symbol ×2, a smaller symbol ×2, a ring with its gap moved ×1.
Tip: Care pays more than haste: each wrong tap adds two seconds, longer than most rounds last.
Cup 2: Quick Sums
Quick Sums, Division: steady mental arithmetic against a gentle clock. Sixty seconds; the first problem is 4 ÷ 2.
Tip: Percentages are friendlier as fractions: 25% is a quarter, 75% is three quarters, 20% is a fifth.
Cup 3: Flash Grid
Flash Grid, Hard: holding a scattered pattern for a second. The first pattern has 7 tiles on a 4 × 4 grid and stays lit for 1 s.
Tip: Tap the tiles you are sure of first, then the doubtful one. A wrong first tap costs the whole round.
