In this pot: hold it in mind, a steady eye, counting. It opens with Flash Grid and finishes with Quick Sums.
What is in the pot
| Cup | Game | Level | First task | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Flash Grid | Medium | 5 tiles on 4 × 4 | about 2 min |
| 2 | Odd One Out | Medium | 4 × 4 to 6 × 6 | about 1 min |
| 3 | Quick Sums | Multiplication | 5 × 3 | about 1 min |
The three cups
Cup 1: Flash Grid
Flash Grid, Medium: holding a scattered pattern for a second. The first pattern has 5 tiles on a 4 × 4 grid and stays lit for 1.1 s.
Tip: Look at the shape, not the tiles one by one. Three tiles often make a corner, a little line or a triangle that is easier to keep than three separate spots.
Cup 2: Odd One Out
Odd One Out, Medium: searching a grid calmly for the one thing that differs. Twelve rounds on grids from 4 × 4 to 6 × 6; differences: a mirrored symbol ×4, a turned symbol ×4, a ring with its gap moved ×3, a dot more or less ×1.
Tip: Care pays more than haste: each wrong tap adds two seconds, longer than most rounds last.
Cup 3: Quick Sums
Quick Sums, Multiplication: steady mental arithmetic against a gentle clock. Sixty seconds; the first problem is 5 × 3.
Tip: Percentages are friendlier as fractions: 25% is a quarter, 75% is three quarters, 20% is a fifth.
