Medium brew · three games · about 4 minutes
Cups in this set
Each cup counts when you play it at the level shown here.
A medium brew: the levels sit in the middle, with enough in each cup to keep you honest.
In this pot: a steady eye, counting. It opens with Step Back and finishes with Quick Sums.
What is in the pot

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Step Back | Position · 2 back | 22 squares | about 1 min |
| 2 | Odd One Out | Medium | 4 × 4 to 6 × 6 | about 1 min |
| 3 | Quick Sums | Subtraction | 11 − 8 | about 1 min |
The three cups
Cup 1: Step Back
Step Back, Position · 2 back: keeping a short list moving through your mind. 22 squares, 6 of them matches, on 8 places of the board.
Tip: Do not chase a missed match. The next item is already on its way.
Cup 2: Odd One Out
Odd One Out, Medium: searching a grid calmly for the one thing that differs. Twelve rounds on grids from 4 × 4 to 6 × 6; differences: a mirrored symbol ×5, a dot more or less ×3, a turned symbol ×2, a ring with its gap moved ×2.
Tip: Sweep in rows when it does not pop out. Rows are easier to keep track of than a wandering search.
Cup 3: Quick Sums
Quick Sums, Subtraction: steady mental arithmetic against a gentle clock. Sixty seconds; the first problem is 11 − 8.
Tip: Round and adjust: 38 + 47 is 40 + 47 minus two.
