The three cups
Cup 1: Quick Sums
Quick Sums, Percentages: steady mental arithmetic against a gentle clock. Sixty seconds; the first problem is 10% of 60.
Tip: For subtraction, count up from the smaller number instead of down from the larger one.
Cup 2: Reaction Time
Reaction Time, Go or stop: waiting calmly and moving the instant something changes. The first eight waits fall between 1.34 and 2.92 s, and 3 of those eight signals say Stop.
Tip: Look at the panel, not at your finger. The change is easier to catch straight on.
Cup 3: Ink & Word
Ink & Word, Hard: keeping your eye on the ink while the word pulls the other way. Forty-five seconds with 6 colours and word buttons; the first card is the word ‘purple’ in green ink.
Tip: A wrong tap costs a full second, so a calm correct tap beats a quick wrong one.
