The three cups
Cup 1: Step Back
Step Back, Letter · 3 back: keeping a short list moving through your mind. 23 letters, 6 of them matches; letters used: C, F, H, K, L, N, T.
Tip: Say the last items under your breath and drop the oldest each time: ‘K, R’ becomes ‘R, T’.
Cup 2: Odd One Out
Odd One Out, Hard: searching a grid calmly for the one thing that differs. Twelve rounds on grids from 5 × 5 to 7 × 7; differences: a dot more or less ×5, a turned symbol ×3, a ring with its gap moved ×3, a mirrored symbol ×1.
Tip: Care pays more than haste: each wrong tap adds two seconds, longer than most rounds last.
Cup 3: Reaction Time
Reaction Time, Go or stop: waiting calmly and moving the instant something changes. The first eight waits fall between 1.29 and 3.37 s, and 3 of those eight signals say Stop.
Tip: In go-or-stop, wait for the word as well as the colour. A held tap on Stop is part of the score.
