The three cups
Cup 1: Step Back
Step Back, Letter · 3 back: keeping a short list moving through your mind. 23 letters, 6 of them matches; letters used: C, F, H, K, N, R, T.
Tip: In position mode, give the squares names like clock positions; names are easier to shuffle along than places.
Cup 2: Odd One Out
Odd One Out, Hard: searching a grid calmly for the one thing that differs. Twelve rounds on grids from 5 × 5 to 7 × 7; differences: a ring with its gap moved ×5, a dot more or less ×4, a turned symbol ×2, a mirrored symbol ×1.
Tip: Resist checking symbols one at a time. Let your gaze rest loosely on the whole grid; quite often the different one steps forward on its own.
Cup 3: Flash Grid
Flash Grid, Hard: holding a scattered pattern for a second. The first pattern has 7 tiles on a 4 × 4 grid and stays lit for 1 s.
Tip: If you miss twice in a row, take a sip of tea before the next round. The game waits for the countdown, not for you to rush.
