Cups in this set
Each cup counts when you play it at the level shown here.
A medium brew: the levels sit in the middle, with enough in each cup to keep you honest.
In this pot: hold it in mind, a steady eye. It opens with Flash Grid and finishes with Odd One Out.
What is in the pot
| Cup | Game | Level | First task | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Flash Grid | Easy | 3 tiles on 3 × 3 | about 2 min |
| 2 | Step Back | Position · 3 back | 23 squares | about 1 min |
| 3 | Odd One Out | Medium | 4 × 4 to 6 × 6 | about 1 min |
The three cups
Cup 1: Flash Grid
Flash Grid, Easy: holding a scattered pattern for a second. The first pattern has 3 tiles on a 3 × 3 grid and stays lit for 1.11 s.
Tip: Look at the shape, not the tiles one by one. Three tiles often make a corner, a little line or a triangle that is easier to keep than three separate spots.
Cup 2: Step Back
Step Back, Position · 3 back: keeping a short list moving through your mind. 23 squares, 6 of them matches, on 7 places of the board.
Tip: Start at one back until it feels dull, then move up. The jump to two back is the big one.
Cup 3: Odd One Out
Odd One Out, Medium: searching a grid calmly for the one thing that differs. Twelve rounds on grids from 4 × 4 to 6 × 6; differences: a dot more or less ×6, a mirrored symbol ×4, a ring with its gap moved ×2.
Tip: For turns and mirrors, pick one feature of the symbol, like the foot of an L, and look only for where it points.
