The three cups
Cup 1: Ink & Word
Ink & Word, Medium: keeping your eye on the ink while the word pulls the other way. Forty-five seconds with 6 colours; the first card is the word ‘green’ in green ink.
Tip: Keep a finger hovering over the middle of the buttons so every colour is the same short move away.
Cup 2: Quick Sums
Quick Sums, Subtraction: steady mental arithmetic against a gentle clock. Sixty seconds; the first problem is 18 − 9.
Tip: Round and adjust: 38 + 47 is 40 + 47 minus two.
Cup 3: Number Span
Number Span, Backwards · Easy: carrying a number while it grows. The first number has 3 digits, each shown for 0.8 s; type it backwards.
Tip: Type steadily; there is no clock while you answer.
