Nothing strong in this pot: three easy cups, short rounds and plenty of room to find a rhythm.
In this pot: hold it in mind, a steady eye. It opens with Odd One Out and finishes with Light Trail.
What is in the pot
| Cup | Game | Level | First task | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Odd One Out | Easy | 3 × 3 to 5 × 5 | about 1 min |
| 2 | Ink & Word | Easy | ‘yellow’ in blue | about 1 min |
| 3 | Light Trail | Easy | 3 steps, 4 panels | about 2 min |
The three cups
Cup 1: Odd One Out
Odd One Out, Easy: searching a grid calmly for the one thing that differs. Twelve rounds on grids from 3 × 3 to 5 × 5; differences: a dot more or less ×5, a different shape ×4, a turned symbol ×3.
Tip: Sweep in rows when it does not pop out. Rows are easier to keep track of than a wandering search.
Cup 2: Ink & Word
Ink & Word, Easy: keeping your eye on the ink while the word pulls the other way. Forty-five seconds with 4 colours; the first card is the word ‘yellow’ in blue ink.
Tip: Let your eyes rest on the edge of the letters, where the ink is, rather than reading the middle of the word.
Cup 3: Light Trail
Light Trail, Easy: keeping an order of shapes and notes. The first trail is 3 steps long on 4 panels; each panel glows for 0.52 s.
Tip: On the nine-panel board, note where the trail starts and where it ends; the middle is easier to rebuild around fixed ends.
